Sucker for Love Stories!

Ever since I could remember, I've been a sucker for romantic fairy tales. By three, I could narrate all the Disney love stories by heart (in English and Spanish), in Jr. High, I was glued to the corny Danielle Steal novels, and as I got older, to get my fix, my favorite question became- so, how did you meet? Often time the stories are simple miracles of fate. Nonetheless, each story makes me feel giddy and happy inside. It was only natural, that I would want to make a living helping couples unfold their happily forever after. I advice my clients to narrate their love story throughout their wedding day. No wedding is ever the same, each comes with fascinating characters, different turns and twists. I say, stamp it! Personalize it. Narrate it! These weddings to me have not just become another page in my portfolio but a true testament of the phenomenon called- Love!

Recovery Mode

A typical wedding day for me, is at least a 13 hour working day. On the day of an event, going full speed is how I operate. But the day after a wedding,  I am in full "recovery mode". When the feet are all mangled up, when all the muscles hurt, when the car needs to be unloaded, and  the belly feels starved, this is when I turn to my favorite things.  I listen to raspy voices of ladies singing jazz, I hook up to the coffee IV, I proudly wear the baggy sweater, I fill up the tank with sweets, I light up my favorite ginger/peony candle and I nestle in between the feathers of a soft down comforter. I sleep, I read, and I cuddle with my kids and hear the animated stories of what I missed. I give the husband a play by play of what went right  at the wedding and what I'll do better the next time, the next time I'm running at full speed. But for the moment, while in recovery mode, I breath as I enjoy my favorite things.

Je T'aime

We've been hired to do a summer wedding and are so excited that the bride has chosen deep purple and orange as her colors. I love this combination!

Lacey Romance

With all the modern combinations of colors...I still love the romantic look of lace, pale pinks, pearls, roses, and vintage chinaware.

At Your Door Events is volunteering their service along with other event professionals to put together a fund raiser dinner where 100% of the money raised will go towards the people affected by the Haiti earthquake. The event is taking place this Saturday, Jan. 30th in the city of Corona at the private residence of Dan and Christine Charlier, Chairman of World Financial Group.

I feel humble that our skills and talent can potentially help out the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Wishes us look!

Last Night's Golden Globes

Us AYDE girlies love to stay on top of the latest trends. One of my own personal ways of doing that is by watching award shows. And Award Show season started with last night's Golden Globes. More than watching the show itself I LOVE to watch the red carpet pre-show ...show! It's a great way to see what the trends are in fashion, color, hair, jewelery, accessories and just STYLE!

How does this translate to Wedding and Event planning you ask?? Well... inspiration can be found in ANYTHING!! I saw a documentary on Ralph Lauren a while ago. Turns out the man is not only an amazing American fashion designer, but he is also an insane car collector. He found inspiration in his car collection to create fashion. The windshield of a Farrier inspired a pair of fashion forward sunglasses and the leather seats of a one of a kind Mercedes inspired a beautiful leather jacket.

There are no hours of operation on creativity. The shop is open as long as my eyes are.... inspiration is everywhere. And last nights Golden Globes was no exception. Here are a few of my favorites:

Marion Cotillard could do no wrong in my book. I LOVE the emerald of her one shoulder Dior gown. This is a perfect example of "it's all in details" ... the tiny bit of lingerie peeking out of the slit adds just a touch of sexy.

For a wedding... maybe you take the tiny bit of black lace and add it around glass candle cylinder? Varying sizes of cylinders on the center of a table can create a romantic an sexy centerpiece.

January Jones of "Mad Men".... two things: head band and platform pumps. 'Nuf said.

Chace Crawford was rockin' the sexy scruff. Sometimes it's ok for grooms and groomsmen to get their scruff on. Things to remember... hair is on point, there are TWO eye bows and the suit is looking crisp. It's about maintaining balance. A little tiny bit of sexy scruff needs a whole lot of neatness in order to be pulled off correctly. We don't want our grooms to walk down the aisle looking like a lumber jack.

Glenn Close is a goddess. What I see first... a bright and beautiful spirit that shines through. What I see next... awesome posture, glowing skin and toned arms. Brides... your bridal beauty will shine though if you don't let the little things get to you. Enjoy your day, be happy and be in love. Your beauty will shine through.

Enjoy award show season,
Sara

2010 Bride World Expo

Here are some pictures from our Bride World Expo booth. Karla, Jenny and I had a blast meeting tons of wonderful brides. We loved to hearing about their plans and giving out tidbits of advice when we could.

Our Peacock Theme was a hit! We received tons of kudos on the overall look and feel of our booth. Here are some pictures of this year's display.

The beautiful purple and green floral centerpiece was a show stopper! We amped up the arrangement with curly willow branches and crystals.
Each place setting received a special touch. Deep teal chargers have a delicate scalloped edge and crystals. The crowning jewel of our table scape was the napkin ring. It was a glitter and sequence studded peacock with real peacock feathers as the tail.

Tying the entire look together was the one of a kind Peacock invitation suite that we displayed on the table. Bronze shimmery paper was layered with deep teal and cream textured paper. To give the invitation some drama we also added teal crystals, a hand stamped satin brown ribbon and of course a peacock feather.

Here are few more pictures from today...

Golden Lotus

I'm really in love with the color yellow! It's so versatile it can be combined with numerous colors such as Black, Navy Blue, etc. This sample combination of yellow with accents of gold and brown really pair together great. Are you feeling a little unceratin of adding a bold color with yellow? This is a great option for those of you that like the look of subtle variations of golden colors.

Shaloree- Jewelry Collection

Our very good friend, Tiff Bennet, Jewelry designer and Owner of Sharloree, recently launched her new Bridal Collection Line of earrings and bracelets. The handcrafted designs of her jewelry are feminine but young- elegant but stylish. Not only is her work amazing and one of a kinda but the prices are also affordable.
Tiff worked as a Designer for Tiffany & Co in New York for several years and recently took the plunge of opening up her own jewelry boutique. I'm so happy for her success and want to encourage our brides to consider wearing a one of a kind piece of jewelry on their special day.

New Year's Resolution

Our resolution in 2010 is to blog more. To write more about the amazing time we have planning with our clients, the cool ideas that we play around with, the nuggets of advice that we treasure along the way, and the amazing results of a thoroughly planned event. Can't wait to share!
